Two Links of Interest

Okay I know I'm probably preaching to the choir here but I found two posts of interest for anyone who is converting their Word Docs to html. :)

The first is Convert Word Docs to HTML I haven't tested it, but it looks interesting. :)

The other is People! Stop using Word to convert to HTML! All I can say is AMEN!

I'm officially switching programs that I use to convert documents to HTML. I'm now using WordPerfect X4 instead of MS Word 97.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but there's also this site: alter-idem squee!book (http://www.alter-idem.com/toys/e-book/) online converter. It converts .htm, .txt, .rtf, .doc or .pdf -- formatting only retained with html -- and output is .txt, .html, .pdf, .rtf, .fb2 and .epub .

No need to apologize! :) I believe I made a post about this tool a few months ago but it never hurts to bring it back up again. :)

We get new members to the community and not everyone has time to read through all the community posts.

I've actually tried that converter on several different browsers and several different computers and have yet to get it to work properly for me. It'll create a e-book but it'll be an empty one. I guess mileage varies for everyone with it..?

Hi! I've been kind of watching this post because people are more likely to comment in here with problems than email me, I swear I'm not normally quite so stalkerlicious :) Would it be possible for you to comment with the url of a story you've tried to convert, and let me know the format you were trying to convert to, so I can see if I can make a fix? I got it to work when I copied and pasted the text into the fields. When something didn't work I'd just contact halcyon_shift and let her know. She was very fast on fixing the what had gone wrong.

I'm also watching this program closely because it would be nice if more stories had an export to epub option. :)

that's kind of odd. I just tested both links and they worked. It could be the site was down when you tried it? or maybe it's a browser thing?

Strangely enough, I've never had any problem using Word to convert to HTML but, admittedly, I rarely convert anything to html anymore. I always stick to RTF and then convert them to LRF/.epub in Calibre. I dunno, maybe it's just me.

For plain RTF stories importing and converting them in Calibre worked rather well. I started to run into troubles with embedding images and the Table of Contents.
