[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] fanfic_ebooks
There's two fic's that someone emailed me in .doc format years ago after the author took them off-line, and I would love to get a copy on my ereader as I find myself really struggling with reading long fics on my computer these days. Calibre said that "no suitable source format was found" when I tried to convert them from the original .doc format, so I downloaded the files again in a .pdf version instead in hopes of covering to ebook format in calibre. However it came up with "Cannot Convert. This book is locked by DRM"

The thing is I am really confused about why a fanfic of all things would be locked by DRM copyright restrictions, and wondered if anyone knew of any way around it? I don't want to pass it on or anything like that, I just want a version to read on my ereader...

Calibre hates Doc, it won't do anything with it, save it as a RTF and then load that into Calibre.
