I've downloaded some stories in PDF (SPN fanfic by Big Pink) and the print comes up microscopic in my Sony. I can click it bigger, but it doesn't go too high. Is there someway to enlarge the font on the PDF doc before I download it???
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

Date: 2009-03-18 03:37 pm (UTC)And... 8x11 eReaders? Ugh. I like the smaller ones much better, have always preferred paperbacks to hardback books!
p.s. moving away from pdf?
Date: 2009-03-18 04:36 am (UTC)I think something that concerns me(and why i'm worrying a year ahead of time is beyond me) there are some new devices that may have 8x11 screens coming out soon...I saw some prototype pictures at the mobileread forum and basically it seems more important to stick to reflowable formats otherwise we may have to re-convert the documents to add another screen size for PDFs.
seriously, I'll be extremely happy when there is one format for all devices that is reflowable....

Date: 2009-03-18 12:10 am (UTC)Easiest workaround is, if the PDF is not locked, head over to How To Do Everything with PDF Files, and use one of their methods for converting the PDF to Word or HTML. (I hadn't even thought of "send it as an attachment to a Gmail account, then open as HTML.") Then send that file through the Sony Reader software or Calibre to make an LRF file (or an epub, or whatever.)

Date: 2009-03-18 04:31 am (UTC)Here's the Red Verse in LRF Format. http://amalthia.mediawood.net/ebooks/fanfiction/Supernatural/Big%20Pink_Red%20Verse%20LRF.zip
Here's the author collection for Big Pink. http://amalthia.mediawood.net/ebooks/fanfiction/Collections%20LRF/Big%20Pink%20Collection.lrf
All of these should look good on your device without any extra effort on your part.
I do recommend Calibre.
As for resizing pdfs...I don't know how to do it. I normally open pdfs (if I have no other options in Adobe Acrobat and save the file as html and then convert it to LRF in Calibre)

Date: 2009-03-19 06:31 am (UTC)I'm posting it here because it's fitting for the community. :) The single file download of the entire collection is called Collection.rar
These are technically for private use since I made them for my own private use but I never heard of not being allowed to share stuff via email and other means.
My rule of thumb is to share this link with people who actually plan on using it for their own ebook devices. But I don't advertise.
